This thesis aims to create an urban hub between the historic center and the modern city of Caorle by redeveloping and repurposing an area located between these two zones. Despite its strategic location, this area currently does not serve as an effective connection point, is underutilized, and lacks a clear identity. The approach adopted is based on research, development, and the application of architectural elements and practices that reference both the city’s history and distinctive features, as well as the characteristics of today’s world. In this way, the solutions implemented address both the past and the present, the historic city and the modern one, thus establishing a strong connection between these elements across all aspects of the project. The use of algae, microalgae, and photobioreactors, combined with the reuse of existing buildings and the addition of new volumes, has enabled the creation of a project that ties the history and identity of the city with innovation and the representation of the contemporary world. These two main strategies permeate the entire project, from architectural to functional solutions, allowing it to evoke Caorle’s historical connection to the sea while preserving the area’s historical memory. At the same time, they respond to the needs of today’s world and reflect the defining aspects of our time. The result is an effective urban connection between the historic center and the modern city, firmly rooted in Caorle’s tradition and history while looking toward innovation and the demands of the present.

Abstract
The result is an effective urban connection between the historic center and the modern city, firmly rooted in Caorle’s tradition and history while looking toward innovation and the demands of the present.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
