Laùr de Macc : Parco archeologico minerario del Monte Vaccareggio: tra passato e futuro

Emergencies, remains, ruins, recognizability, preservation and enhancement are some of the key words that will guide the following thesis. The goal is to analyse a case study, proposing subsequently a way of intervening, in relation to a delicate heritage, in an archaeological context of daily life, one that is not prominent in the national scene but is still of significant relevance. The thesis specifically aims to investigate and strengthen the connection between the town of Dossena and its mineral heritage. This link has already been addressed in the recent interventions on the mines of the twentieth century Paglio Pignolino, but it has been almost entirely forgotten in the excavations of Monte Vaccareggio (dating back to the 1st century A.D.). There would be no Dossena without the mines of Vaccareggio and there would be no mines on the mountain without their mining town, The residents of the valley remember this well, but it is a story now distant, made of fragile and buried connections. As buried and hidden are largely, the entrances on top of Vaccareggio: nature is taking over, hiding and protecting a past history that deserves to be rediscovered, studied and enhanced.

Emergenze, resti, rovine, riconoscibilità, conservazione e valorizzazione sono alcune delle parole chiave che guideranno la tesi che segue. L’obiettivo è quello di analizzare un caso studio, proponendo successivamente un modo di intervenire, in relazione ad un patrimonio delicato, in un contesto archeologico del quotidiano, non emergente nel panorama nazionale, ma ugualmente rilevante. La tesi nello specifico mira ad indagare e rafforzare il legame tra l’abitato di Dossena e il suo patrimonio minerario. Legame già affrontato nei recenti interventi sulle miniere novecentesche del Paglio Pignolino, ma quasi totalmente dimenticato negli scavi del Monte Vaccareggio (risalenti al I sec. d.C.). Non esisterebbe Dossena senza le miniere del Vaccareggio e non esisterebbero le miniere sul monte senza la loro città mineraria, questo lo ricordano bene gli abitanti della valle, ma è una storia ormai lontana, fatta di legami labili e sepolti. Come sepolti e nascosti sono, in buona parte, gli imbocchi sulla cima del Vaccareggio: la natura sta prendendo il sopravvento, nascondendo e tutelando una storia passata che merita però di essere riscoperta, studiata e valorizzata.
