Abstract
Technology related to everyday objects is increasingly present in everyday life. Even products that have been part of our daily lives for decades are undergoing radical transformations, gradually losing intuitiveness and clarity. During the Final Project Work of the Design & Engineering master's program, thanks to the collaboration with the company Midea, it was developed Up. The product is an integrated hood for an induction cooktop that can be detached and, once placed on a base, transforms into an air purifier. This project is highly innovative and complex, yet also extremely functional due to its dual-purpose design. The goal of this research is to demonstrate that, through a user-centered approach, it is possible to make even advanced and technologically complex products accessible. They should not be an obstacle for the user, but an added value within the home environment. Indeed, careful UX-UI research makes it possible to transform a technically sophisticated product into a pleasant and intuitive user experience, thanks to communicative and effective interfaces. The first phase of the research focused on the analysis of home environments and trends in the domestic world, identifying a clear context of use and a well-defined target audience. Next, personas were developed and their needs and requirements were analyzed. This phase allowed to conduct an in-depth benchmarking study, identifying products and systems with relevant functionality and features for the purpose through a detailed UX-UI analysis. In addition, by studying Midea's portfolio and its products in the market, it was possible to develop a system consistent with the company's identity, ensuring continuity and recognizability. Through this path of research, interfaces were designed to be as intuitive and practical as possible, ensuring a smooth and rewarding user experience.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
