This thesis addresses the planned demolition of the ex-Magazzino building in Scalo Farini, proposing an alternative scenario that preserves the building while adapting its key values and character to contemporary urban demands. The research takes the “Agenti Climatici” master plan as a given framework, adjusting its main principles to explore how the ex-Magazzino could be retained while meeting the site’s programmatic and density requirements. The proposed master plan currently envisions demolishing nearly half of the existing structure. This thesis explores a hypothetical alternative in which the building is preserved and expanded to align with the planned density targets. Through an adaptive reuse approach, the ex-Magazzino is reimagined as a new social and cultural hub for the city, leveraging its scale and architectural qualities to contribute to Milan’s evolving urban fabric.

Abstract
Through an adaptive reuse approach, the ex-Magazzino is reimagined as a new social and cultural hub for the city, leveraging its scale and architectural qualities to contribute to Milan’s evolving urban fabric.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
