In today’s volatile business environment, Integrated Business Planning (IBP) has emerged as a key framework for enhancing supply chain resilience, operational efficiency, and strategic alignment. Unlike traditional Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP), IBP integrates financial, operational, and strategic decision-making processes. This thesis examines the evolution, implementation, and impact of IBP, particularly in manufacturing. The study presents a comparative analysis of IBP models, evaluating their structure, integration, and technological adoption. It highlights key challenges and success factors, emphasizing the role of digital transformation, cross-functional collaboration, and predictive analytics in improving planning efficiency. A core focus is the case study of Prometeon Tyre Group (PTG), a global leader in industrial tyre manufacturing, which recently implemented SAP Integrated Business Planning (SAP IBP) to optimize its supply chain. The case study explores PTG’s pre-IBP challenges, including fragmented planning, inaccurate forecasts, and inefficient production scheduling. It details the step-by-step deployment of SAP IBP and its impact on demand forecasting, supply planning, inventory optimization, and collaboration. Findings show IBP led to greater forecast accuracy, reduced inventory costs, enhanced decision-making agility, and improved real-time visibility. This research bridges IBP theory and practice, demonstrating IBP’s transformative potential in strengthening supply chain resilience, digital integration, and strategic execution. Future research should explore AI-driven IBP, sustainability integration, and cross-industry comparisons.
Nell’attuale contesto economico caratterizzato da forte volatilità, l’Integrated Business Planning (IBP) si è affermato come un framework essenziale per migliorare la resilienza della supply chain, l’efficienza operativa e l’allineamento strategico. A differenza del Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) tradizionale, IBP integra i processi decisionali finanziari, operativi e strategici. Questa tesi analizza l’evoluzione, l’implementazione e l’impatto dell’IBP, con particolare attenzione al settore manifatturiero. Lo studio offre un’analisi comparativa dei modelli IBP, valutandone struttura, livello di integrazione e adozione tecnologica. Esamina le principali sfide e fattori di successo, evidenziando il ruolo della trasformazione digitale, della collaborazione interfunzionale e dell’analisi predittiva nel miglioramento dell’efficienza della pianificazione. Un elemento centrale è il caso studio di Prometeon Tyre Group (PTG), leader globale nella produzione di pneumatici industriali, che ha recentemente implementato SAP Integrated Business Planning (SAP IBP) per ottimizzare la propria supply chain. Il caso studio approfondisce le criticità pre-IBP di PTG, tra cui processi di pianificazione frammentati, previsioni di domanda imprecise e inefficienze nella programmazione della produzione. Analizza l’implementazione di SAP IBP, evidenziando il miglioramento della pianificazione della domanda, dell’allocazione delle risorse, dell’ottimizzazione delle scorte e della collaborazione interfunzionale. I risultati dimostrano che IBP ha portato a previsioni più accurate, riduzione dei costi di magazzino, maggiore agilità decisionale e visibilità in tempo reale. Questa ricerca colma il divario tra teoria e pratica dell’IBP, evidenziandone il potenziale trasformativo nel rafforzare la resilienza della supply chain, l’integrazione digitale e l’allineamento strategico. Le future ricerche dovrebbero esplorare l’IBP basato su AI, l’integrazione della sostenibilità e il confronto tra settori.
