Inhabiting time : the threshold as an architectural device in our relationships

This final year project focuses on the subject of intergenerationality, with a particular emphasis on the different temporalities that life encompasses. It depicts an approach that advocates living together and creating connections through a rich architectural figure: that of the threshold. From this figure, concepts emanate, which present themselves to us as creative tools. While the threshold is often interpreted as a spatial device that separates, divides, and delineates a passage, it is also the place that enables, encourages, and invites an encounter between the times of life, and sometimes even that of death. To what extent can the threshold be an architectural tool that allows openness to the Other?"

"Questo progetto di fine studi si concentra sul tema dell'intergenerazionalità, con una particolare attenzione alle diverse temporalità che la vita comprende. Descrive un approccio che promuove il vivere insieme e la creazione di legami, attraverso una ricca figura architettonica: quella della soglia. Da questa figura emanano concetti che si presentano a noi come strumenti creativi. Mentre la soglia è spesso interpretata come un dispositivo spaziale che separa, divide e delinea un passaggio, è anche il luogo che permette, incoraggia e invita a un incontro tra i tempi della vita, e a volte anche quello della morte. In che misura la soglia può essere uno strumento architettonico che permette l'apertura all'Altro?"
