Lignano Sabbiadoro is a coastal city in northeastern Italy, in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region, known for its golden sandy beaches and strategic location on the Adriatic Sea. This area is not only an important tourist destination but also plays a crucial role in preserving coastal ecosystems. However, in recent years, increasing tourism, along with the effects of climate change such as shoreline retreat, coastal erosion, and rising sea levels, has threatened the environmental balance of the region. The development of urban and tourism infrastructure without adequate attention to sustainability has put additional pressure on the local ecosystem, making the need to balance nature and human activities more urgent than ever. To address these challenges, this research proposes a set of sustainable interventions aimed at reducing environmental impacts and managing tourism more effectively. Nature-based techniques, such as Living Shoreline, have been used to mitigate flooding, strengthen vegetation cover, and reduce coastal erosion. The creation of natural landforms helps protect the coastline from storm surges and increases its resilience. In addition, tourism management policies and sustainable pathways have been introduced to control access to sensitive areas and reduce human impact on the ecosystem. These interventions present an integrated model for environmental protection and sustainable tourism development, demonstrating that maintaining a balance between nature and human activities is essential.

Abstract
These interventions present an integrated model for environmental protection and sustainable tourism development, demonstrating that maintaining a balance between nature and human activities is essential.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
