A city is more than its buildings and spaces; it is a cultural entity where food, as an intangible heritage, shapes memories and urban identity. However, food exploration today focuses on personal experiences (reviews, taste) while overlooking its cultural significance. This study explores how embodied interaction design can bridge the gap between individual food experiences and urban cultural understanding. Through a literature review, observations, digital ethnography on Rednotes, and cultural probes, this study examines how users perceive food’s role in daily life and travel. While food is recognized as part of urban culture, users lack interactive tools to engage with its historical and social context. Current food documentation is fragmented and practical, centered on taste, price, and ambiance, with little focus on its cultural and historical connections. To address this, the study proposes Snap & Savor, an embodied interaction system inspired by Polaroid photography, enabling users to capture food and city images, access dish information via NFC, and print physical records, fostering a personalized food exploration experience. By integrating instant recording and embodied interaction, the system deepens user engagement with food and urban culture. Findings indicate that embodied interaction in food documentation enhances users' cultural awareness, strengthening the emotional connection between people, food, and the city. This study offers new insights for HCI, urban heritage preservation, and experience design, exploring how interactive technologies can support food storytelling and cultural memory preservation.

Abstract
This study offers new insights for HCI, urban heritage preservation, and experience design, exploring how interactive technologies can support food storytelling and cultural memory preservation.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
