This study is part of a broader project focused on developing a loosening detection sys- tem for threaded joints, utilizing smart washers and the Electro-Mechanical Impedance (EMI) method. The primary objective of this thesis is to conduct a metrological evalu- ation of a newly developed custom impedance analyzer board, designed to be compact, cost-effective, and easily deployable at scale. To validate the board’s performance, extensive testing and a large number of measure- ments were carried out. These tests assessed the consistency across different channels connected to the same load, as well as the overall performance when all channels were simultaneously connected to smart washers, ensuring reliability under typical operating conditions. Additionally, a graphical user interface (GUI) was developed to facilitate user interaction. It allows easy configuration and communication with the board via a custom RS485 serial protocol.
Questo studio fa parte di un progetto più ampio volto allo sviluppo di un sistema di rilevamento dell’allentamento di giunti filettati, utilizzando rondelle intelligenti e la tecnica dell’Impedenza Elettro-Meccanica (EMI). L’obiettivo principale di questa tesi è la valutazione metrologica di una nuova scheda analizzatrice di impedenza personalizzata, progettata per essere compatta, economica e adatta alla distribuzione su larga scala. Per validare le prestazioni della scheda, sono stati condotti test approfonditi e un elevato numero di misurazioni. Questi test hanno valutato la coerenza tra i diversi canali collegati allo stesso carico e le prestazioni complessive del sistema quando tutti i canali erano simultaneamente connessi alle rondelle intelligenti, garantendo l’affidabilità in condizioni operative tipiche. È stata inoltre sviluppata un’interfaccia grafica utente (GUI) per facilitare l’interazione con il sistema. La GUI consente una configurazione semplice e la comunicazione con la scheda tramite un protocollo seriale RS485 personalizzato.
