Little grubs growing. Happy children for an healthy planet. Online platform for families and institutions for sharing sustainable activities for children

My project deals with sustainability for children and families. The choice of this target comes from my curiosity to discover what we are doing today for the men that tomorrow should love and care for the planet we didn’t care enough. The first part of the research is oriented to the children’s universe, with the help of a psychologist of development. At the same time I meet up sustainable associations like Shanghai Roots & Shoots, non-profit foundation linked to Jane Goodall Roots & Shoots worldwide foundation. Primary research took place directly into kindergarten in China and Shanghai. The work has been focused on knowing sustainable projects inside schools with a special attention to the relationship between children, families and institutions. Curiosity and natural children sustainability, families love and teacher’s experience were the basic elements for the definition of a service with the aim of generating awareness on sustainability for families and institutions. Little Grubs Growing, designed in collaboration with Shanghai Roots & Shoots, is a platform that promotes free sharing of knowledge and educational activities on the topic of sustainability for preschoolers with the aim of activating families in real life. The platform is oriented to the generation of a community that takes alive and updated t project. Main actors are schools and families, but everyone interested can browse the pages and freely download the activities. Families can understand that living sustainably can be a funny game to play together and at the same time that can receive the help of institutions for their children. Schools and institutions can use the platform as a window for their portfolio all over the world. Shanghai Roots & Shoots can improve its image in the users and add more efficiency in the diffusion of its projects.

Il mio progetto approfondisce la sostenibilità spiegata ai bambini e alle famiglie. La scelta di focalizzarmi su questa fascia di età è stata dettata dalla curiosità di scoprire cosa stiamo facendo oggi affinché gli uomini di domani siano in grado di amare e prendersi cura del mondo che la generazione precedente non ha rispettato abbastanza. La prima fase di ricerca si è rivolta alla conoscenza dell’universo dell’infanzia, con l’aiuto di una psicologa dello sviluppo. Questa fase, definita step 0, è assolutamente necessaria per chiunque voglia progettare in maniera efficiente ed efficace per il mondo dei bambini. Contemporaneamente ho conosciuto associazioni che operano nel settore dell’infanzia e della sostenibilità. Una profonda collaborazione è nata con Shanghai Roots & Shoots, no-profit legata alla fondazione mondiale Roots & Shoots di Jane Goodall. La primary research è stata effettuata direttamente all’interno delle scuole dell’infanzia in Cina e in Italia. Il lavoro è stato orientato alla conoscenza di progetti sostenibili all’interno delle scuole con particolare attenzione al rapporto tra bambini, famiglie e istituzioni. La curiosità e la naturale sostenibilità dei bambini, l’amore delle famiglie e l’esperienza delle maestre sono stati gli elementi base per la definizione di un servizio rivolto alla generazione di una maggiore consapevolezza sul tema della sostenibilità per famiglie e istituzioni in primis. Little Grubs Growing, realizzato in collaborazione con Shanghai Roots & Shoots, è una piattaforma che promuove la condivisione gratuita di conoscenza e attività educative sul tema della sostenibilità per bambini in età pre-scolare con lo scopo di attivare le famiglie nella vita reale. La piattaforma è orientata alla generazione di una community che tiene in vita ed aggiorna il progetto. Gli attori principali sono le scuole e le famiglie che possono prendere parte alla community, ma qualunque visitatore può accedere liberamente al materiale scaricando le attività o visitando il blog. Le famiglie possono sperimentare che pensare e vivere in maniera sostenibile può essere un gioco divertente da fare insieme e nello stesso tempo possono avere l’appoggio delle istituzioni nel difficile compito di crescere un figlio ai nostri giorni. Le scuole e le istituzioni che partecipano al progetto hanno nella piattaforma una finestra per pubblicizzare il loro lavoro in tutto il mondo.
