Biphasic stainless steels provide an excellent combination of mechanical and corrosion properties. In this paper, a forged rod of 480 mm diameter made of 2507 biphasic stainless steel was studied. Then, the influence of the microstructural constituents and their morphology on the crack path was studied by optical microscopy, noting possible correlations with the impact energy. The effect of austenite island orientation and shape on crack propagation and on impact energy was studied. Then we tried to see if rule of mixture is applicable for KV. After that we performed microhardness test at different depth of specimens to see the strain hardening induced by impact and crack propagation. And finally we did J1c test and found a linear relation between J1c and KV.
Gli acciai inossidabili bifasici offrono un'eccellente combinazione di proprietà meccaniche e di resistenza alla corrosione. In questo studio è stato analizzato un tondo fucinato di diametro 480 mm realizzato in acciaio inossidabile bifasico 2507. Successivamente, è stata studiata l'influenza delle fasi microstrutturali e della loro morfologia sul percorso di propagazione della cricca mediante microscopia ottica, osservando eventuali correlazioni con l'energia d'impatto. È stato analizzato anche l’effetto dell’orientazione delle isole di austenite sulla propagazione della cricca e sull’energia d’impatto. In seguito, si è cercato di verificare l’applicabilità della regola delle miscele (rule of mixture) al valore KV. È stata quindi effettuata una prova di microdurezza a diverse profondità del provino per calcolare il valore di KVspecifico. Infine, è stata condotta una prova J1c, evidenziando una relazione lineare tra J1c e KV.
