Abstract The metaproject proposal for a reorganization or a new project for the Lourdes Swimming Pools involved for the candidate (with more than thirty years of experience in the context): a historical reference, an analysis of the current situation, many contacts with users and operators and finally a methodological analysis to arrive at a project. To understand what the value of Lourdes is today, a brief analysis of the origins has been made, which concern, as everyone knows, the apparitions of 1858 in the grotto that can still be visited today. From that moment on, the construction of the buildings, initially the basilicas, began to be larger and larger to contain the pilgrims whose number grew more and more starting from the apparition to Bernadette up to much higher numbers, before covid, and with a gradual increase after the reopening. The symbolic building concerns the place where baths are carried out with the water of the spring located in the Cave: the Pools. The projects for a modernization or a possible move to other sites are still subject to evaluation by the Sanctuary, and it seemed appropriate to take up all these ideas to propose the hypothesis of a possible personal project. The journey continued by first interviewing the volunteers of the swimming pools that bathe pilgrims and then interviewing some prominent figures of Lourdes. For the former, an international questionnaire was prepared to understand the needs regarding any improvements to the pools, which was then administered through IT channels through a QR code. For the latter, on the other hand, targeted interviews were carried out with which the managers talked about their contribution to this place and their impressions of possible changes to the existing building or the preparation of a new project. Continuing, a comparison was made between the two procedures through a table summarizing the positions taken. Subsequently, an analysis of the pros and cons was carried out regarding the choice between making improvements to the existing building and building new swimming pools with a new location. Through a methodological analysis of the flows of pilgrims who use the swimming pools and the volunteers who work in that place, it was possible to propose an organizational layout that could provide the necessary rooms, organized by macro-areas, in a new building that could accommodate the aforementioned flows. The candidate's proposal would like to be integrated from an architectural point of view into the projects that are born and built continuously, being part of a space that cannot remain unchanged but must adapt to the times, to the people who come there and to the modernity of humanity, also thinking about an essential inclusive design, without losing its original meaning.
