Tomorrow won't be dry: rethinking habitat in a shifting climate

The water is rising, slowly but inevitably. Entire landscapes are caught between submersion and survival. My project does not aim to stop the inevitable or fight against it, but to imagine a new way of living, one that moves with the water instead of resisting it. Living on water is no longer just a choice; it is becoming a necessity. This project explores floating architecture not as a temporary solution to climate crises, but as a long-term, adaptable, and resilient way of living. It questions the boundary between land and sea, proposing habitats that evolve with their environment, offering shelter and stability even as the tides rise. This topic is deeply personal to me. It connects to my own story, to the landscapes that shaped me, from the Seine where I grew up to the Gulf of Morbihan, where people I love call home. I dedicate this work to the town of Arzon and its inhabitants, who face this reality every day, and to all those who will one day need to learn to live differently. I hope this project raises awareness and encourages more people to see the urgency of this issue, not with fear, but with the desire to find new ways forward.

Il livello dell'acqua sta salendo, lentamente ma inesorabilmente. Interi paesaggi sono sospesi tra l'immersione e la sopravvivenza. Il mio progetto non mira a fermare l'inevitabile o a combatterlo, ma a immaginare un nuovo modo di vivere, che si muova con l'acqua invece di resisterle. Vivere sull'acqua non è più solo una scelta, sta diventando una necessità. Questo progetto esplora l'architettura galleggiante non come una soluzione temporanea alle crisi climatiche, ma come un modo di vivere a lungo termine, adattabile e resiliente. Mette in discussione il confine tra terra e mare, proponendo habitat che si evolvono con il loro ambiente, offrendo riparo e stabilità anche quando le maree si alzano. Questo argomento è profondamente personale per me. È legato alla mia storia, ai paesaggi che mi hanno plasmato, dalla Senna dove sono cresciuta al Golfo di Morbihan, dove le persone che amo hanno la loro casa. Dedico questo lavoro alla città di Arzon e ai suoi abitanti, che affrontano questa realtà ogni giorno, e a tutti coloro che un giorno dovranno imparare a vivere in modo diverso. Spero che questo progetto sensibilizzi e incoraggi più persone a vedere l'urgenza di questo problema, non con paura, ma con il desiderio di trovare nuove strade da percorrere.
