This thesis addresses the psychological and emotional impact that natural disasters have on school-aged children, with a particular focus on the Colombian context. The research identifies the main causes and consequences of this issue, which provides the basis for approaching it through Service Design as a discipline capable of transforming theory into concrete solutions. The project builds on the principles of participatory design, emphasising co-design with key local stakeholders. From this process emerges HopeHaven, a service designed to support children aged 6 to 11 during the critical period that spans from the first days after a disaster to the following seven weeks. Its purpose is to promote psychosocial recovery through an immersive experience implemented directly in the affected area. With the support of volunteers, psychologists, and pedagogues specialised in emergency contexts, the service guides children through structured activities around the past, present, and future, fostering resilience and enabling them to overcome trauma. At the same time, HopeHaven seeks to strengthen community interaction by integrating parents, caregivers, and local actors into the process. This component not only enhances child-focused support but also fosters social cohesion and paves the way toward community reconstruction as a foundation for collective resilience.

Abstract
This component not only enhances child-focused support but also fosters social cohesion and paves the way toward community reconstruction as a foundation for collective resilience.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
