The archive is the physical place dedicated to preserving and transmitting memory: an ordered collection of documents to be understood not as a mere repository, but as matter that actively contributes to the cultural and political development of a society, as well as to its bureaucratic functioning. In Italian cities, the importance of these institutions stands in stark contrast to the precarious conditions in which they are often found: frequently housed in inadequate facilities, they struggle to keep pace with contemporary document production and to affirm themselves as truly collective buildings. This research focuses on the case of Naples, proposing the partial relocation of state and municipal archival collections into a new hub, conceived as a reference point for studying the history of the city and the entire Mediterranean region. The project is located in the area behind the Real Albergo dei Poveri, currently occupied by a bus depot of the Azienda Napoletana della Mobilità. By redefining the civic and urban role of this logistical complex, the proposal envisions its transformation into the "Polo Archivistico Partenopeo".

Abstract
By redefining the civic and urban role of this logistical complex, the proposal envisions its transformation into the "Polo Archivistico Partenopeo".| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
