The twenty-first century marks a new stage of globalization in which digital technologies, mobility, and cultural exchange are redefining human connection. While people today can communicate across borders more easily than ever, cultural misunderstandings and language barriers still prevent genuine understanding. This thesis investigates how emerging technologies can nurture empathy and meaningful interaction among people from different cultural backgrounds. Grounded in the author’s personal experience living and studying across China, Italy, and Brazil, the research explores how Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Augmented Reality (AR) can merge to create an assistive system for real-time cultural and linguistic translation. Through literature review, user research, and conceptual prototyping, the project examines the intersection of design, technology, and humanity, proposing an interaction model that allows individuals to speak comfortably in their own language while being understood universally. The study argues that as humanity approaches the next technological era, such systems will become essential to sustain a more connected and cooperative world. The proposed framework emphasizes human-centered and ethical design, envisioning AI-powered AR glasses not merely as tools for translation, but as mediums for cross-cultural empathy and shared understanding. Ultimately, The project YUAN imagines a future where technology dissolves barriers, enabling people to communicate authentically and experience the world through one another’s eyes.

Abstract
Ultimately, The project YUAN imagines a future where technology dissolves barriers, enabling people to communicate authentically and experience the world through one another’s eyes.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
