This thesis explores the relationship between meditation and creativity, and how meditative practices can be meaningfully integrated into industrial design education and practice. The study builds on the observation that creativity, a core skill in design, is often hindered by stress, distraction, and cognitive overload among students and professionals. Through a qualitative research approach combining a mapping and scoping literature review, expert interviews, contextual analysis, and in-field observations, the research identifies how meditation supports creative processes by improving focus, emotional regulation, and divergent thinking. These insights were translated into a design solution: a semi-private meditation pod for dedicated university environments. The pod balances privacy through natural materials, acoustic felt, and bodily interaction, providing students with a calm space for short reflective pauses. The design encourages mindful rituals, such as setting aside the phone, to enhance mental clarity and quiet distractions. Ultimately, the thesis shows that meditation not only nurtures creativity but also promotes well-being and self-regulation, offering an actionable framework for introducing its practice into design education.

Abstract
Ultimately, the thesis shows that meditation not only nurtures creativity but also promotes well-being and self-regulation, offering an actionable framework for introducing its practice into design education.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
