MoDD: un unico sistema audio per infinite configurazioni

moDD is a product design project with the target of creating a whole new experience while enjoying the music: making the sound flexible, engaging and able to adapt to various needs. Playing background music throughout the day mirrors the mood and assists in carrying out different activities: it boosts productivity, helps relaxing and improving your memory or simply training your mind by listening to a new language. Therefore, it becomes fundamental that the tools used to access the audio content compatible with the new lifestyles and the dynamics inside the house. The existing sound systems are very focused on a specific functions, which makes them useful only when needed. This creates a market niche for users with very precise requirements. It is also worth noting that there is an exponential growth of the demanding of wireless products, with the ability to connect with other devices, moving the focus of the research towards a new experience in the enjoyment of consumer audio products. The strength points and innovation brought by moDD are two: customization and revolution in the listening field. His structure, consisting of four modules and a central unit, allows moDD to have full control over the sound environment. As for personalization, it may vary depending on the multimedia content: a soundbar/stereo, a home theater surround system, a multi-room system or a single Bluetooth portable speaker, if using a single module. At the base of this, there is a multidisciplinary research that began with an analysis of trends, market and careful consideration of numerous case studies. Following, a scientific-oriented research on applied technologies, listening habits, ergonomics and interface. The creative process became reality thanks to the interviews to some of the professionals in the field combined with the research summary to create the actual design. To conclude, moDD is a smart audio playback system, customizable and able to follow the user’s rhythms by adapting to different environments and needs and always offering the best audio experience possible.

moDD è un progetto di design del prodotto con l’obiettivo di creare una nuova esperienza nel vivere la musica: rendendo l’ascolto flessibile e coinvolgente e capace di adattarsi alle diverse esigenze. Il sottofondo musicale durante la giornata ricalca l’umore e aiuta lo svolgimento di attività: aumento della produttività, rilassarsi, migliorare la memoria o allenare l’ascolto di una nuova lingua. Diventa quindi fondamentale far sì che gli strumenti utilizzati per usufruire dei contenuti audio siano adatti ai nuovi stili di vita e alle dinamiche all’interno della casa. I sistemi audio esistenti sono molto legati a una sola funzione specifica e di conseguenza spesso utilizzati all’occasione. Ciò crea una nicchia tra i prodotti audio sul mercato, rivolta solamente a chi ha precise esigenze. Da sottolineare è anche la crescita esponenziale della richiesta di prodotti wireless con possibilità di connessione ad altri dispositivi, spostando così il focus della ricerca verso una nuova esperienza nella fruizione di prodotti audio consumer. I punti di forza e di innovazione di moDD sono due: personalizzazione e trasformazione dell’ascolto. La sua struttura formata da quattro moduli e un’unità centrale consente di avere il controllo sull’ambiente sonoro. Per quanto riguarda la personalizzazione, in base al contenuto multimediale scelto può essere: una soundbar/stereo, un sistema surround home theatre, un sistema multistanza o utilizzando singolarmente un solo modulo diventa uno speaker bluetooth portatile. Alla base vi è una ricerca multidisciplinare cominciata con l’analisi dei trends, del mercato e un’attenta riflessione su diversi casi studio. A questo è seguita una ricerca con approccio scientifico su tecnologie applicate, abitudini di ascolto, ergonomia e interfaccia. Il processo creativo si è poi concretizzato grazie al contributo dato dalle interviste ad alcuni professionisti del settore, oltre che dalla sintesi della ricerca, fino al design effettivo. In conclusione moDD è un sistema di riproduzione audio smart, personalizzabile e capace di seguire i ritmi dell’utente adattandosi a diversi ambienti ed esigenze: offrendo sempre la miglior esperienza audio possibile.
