This thesis explores the role of the middle office function in the banking and financial sector, highlighting its strategic importance in ensuring operational efficiency, cross-functional coordination, and regulatory compliance. The study focuses on the wealth management domain, where high process complexity and strict regulations make the middle office a crucial organizational component for guaranteeing the correct functioning of business operations. Using Mediobanca Premier as a case study, the thesis examines the coordination function supporting the onboarding and management of Wealth Advisors and, based on an analysis of existing workflows, proposes a redesigned operational model and a set of automation solutions. These proposals are supported by qualitative assessments of their expected impact on efficiency, process traceability, and operational risk reduction.
