The building market needs pioneering solutions to tackle the current barriers to technological innovation. The use of easily disassembled and lightweight structures coupled with highly customizable dry-layered technologies represents a powerful strategy to design innovative buildings with tailor-made envelopes that ensure optimal thermal comfort levels, high energy efficiency, and short construction times, becoming more and more popular also in countries with strong masonry traditions. In that context, on-site measurements have shown wide gaps in the actual operative performance of buildings and respective envelope components, compared to what calculated, modeled and simulated during the design-phase. Hence, the real-life performance assessment of the building enclosure appears as a powerful tool to evaluate and potentially prevent such gaps. One of the main expected results of the present work is the establishment of a novel research space dedicated to the performance assessment in real conditions of full-scale multilayer envelope solutions. To that end, the research has followed a virtuous measurement and verification approach in an innovative open ecosystem, enabling the full-scale prototype testing of multilayer envelope solutions (e.g., thermal, hygrometric, airtightness, Indoor Air Quality performances), facilitating their successful market entry, and establishing a reference testbed and approach for the development of ground-breaking solutions.

Abstract
To that end, the research has followed a virtuous measurement and verification approach in an innovative open ecosystem, enabling the full-scale prototype testing of multilayer envelope solutions (e.g., thermal, hygrometric, airtightness, Indoor Air Quality performances), facilitating their successful market entry, and establishing a reference testbed and approach for the development of ground-breaking solutions.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
