Campus Ucc'Aidu. Building memories to safeguard Parco del Marghine - Goceano from the risk of wildfires

The massive frequency of wildfires across Europe represents a steadily increasing threat in recent times, exacerbated by rapid climate change and damaging human activities. In Italy, the areas most affected annually are in the southern regions, particularly the two large islands. Characterized by strong winds, high temperatures, and periodic drought, these represent ideal conditions for the rapid development of fires, especially those started deliberately. Sardegna appears to be more and more affected, with numerous areas increasingly subject to post-fire destruction and serious consequences for the population and its tourism, the landscape, and its wildlife. The region is periodically affected both along its coastal strips and inland areas, with several peaks localized in the southern portion. The proposal wants to focus on potentially at-risk areas, in order to prevent new damages in a more efficient way of addressing the phenomena instead of working with already destroyed surfaces that will take many years to recover. The aim of the project is to place an attractive hub to give back importance to areas that even though are defined as protected ones are still at risk due to their abandonment and lack of use. Located in the proximity of Macomer (Sardegna), the proposal wants to study, analyze, and present a possible preventative landscape solution to work mainly with how the population thinks of the place and therefore how people will actively want to preserve it even more.

L’elevata frequenza degli incendi boschivi in Europa rappresenta una minaccia in costante aumento negli ultimi tempi, aggravata dal rapido cambiamento climatico e dalle attività umane dannose. In Italia, le aree più colpite annualmente sono le regioni meridionali, in particolare le due grandi isole. Caratterizzate da forti venti, temperature elevate e periodiche siccità, queste rappresentano le condizioni ideali per il rapido sviluppo di incendi, soprattutto quelli di origine dolosa. La Sardegna appare sempre più colpita, con numerose aree soggette a distruzione post-incendio e gravi conseguenze per la popolazione, il turismo, il paesaggio e la fauna selvatica. La regione è periodicamente interessata sia lungo le fasce costiere che nelle aree interne, con diversi picchi localizzati nella porzione meridionale. La proposta vuole concentrarsi sulle aree potenzialmente a rischio, per prevenire nuovi danni e affrontare in modo più efficace il fenomeno, anziché lavorare su superfici già distrutte, la cui rigenerazione richiederà molti anni. L’obiettivo del progetto è quello di creare un polo attrattivo per restituire importanza ad aree che, pur essendo definite protette, sono ancora a rischio a causa del loro abbandono e della mancanza di utilizzo. Situata nelle vicinanze di Macomer (Sardegna), la proposta intende studiare, analizzare e presentare una possibile soluzione paesaggistica preventiva, lavorando principalmente sul modo in cui la popolazione percepisce il luogo e, di conseguenza, su come le persone vorranno attivamente preservarlo ancora di più.
