The Moon is a difficult place to reach, where living and working is challenging. The ambitious Japanese space program Moonshot 2050 final goal is to create a stable human settlement on the Moon. A stable human settlement requires a larger number of astronauts to perform all the needed tasks to permit the people to live on the Moon surface. Sending a large number of astronauts on the lunar surface is dangerous, difficult and expensive. It would be more convenient to increase the safety, the efficiency, the flexibility and the range of activities of a smaller number of astronauts working on the Moon. A robotic arm would help in achieving such goals and would help the astronauts in accomplishing their tasks. The human’s safety and the risk of damaging a component manipulated by the arm or the arm due to an arm incorrect programming would be still real. A collaborative manipulator would be a better solution to achieve all the mentioned properties and not break neither the component nor the arm. A control architecture permitting to implement a collaborative behaviour is the impedance control. The objective of this thesis is the design of a positional impedance control for the arm. The arm inertial parameters are experimentally estimated and they are used to define the dynamic model of the manipulator. The dynamic model is validated through a comparison between a simulation of the arm dynamic behaviour and the real arm dynamic behaviour. The dynamic model is used in the implementation of the impedance control, which is partially tested, and the tests show the good control system performance.

Abstract
The dynamic model is used in the implementation of the impedance control, which is partially tested, and the tests show the good control system performance.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
