Promenade is a project of reconnection—an attempt to let a fragmented territory breathe as one continuous landscape again. It unfolds as a long, deliberate walk, a line that listens to the city and the mountains at the same time. Moving through Domodossola, it becomes a thread that gathers what has drifted apart: historic paths and contemporary streets, the weight of infrastructure and the softness of fields, the stillness of the river and the vertical momentum of the Alps. Rather than composing a sequence of isolated interventions, the project draws a single itinerary—street, plaza, bridge, park, tower, earthwork, river crossing—each one a different voice along the same line. Through this walk, the city recovers its relations: to the Toce, to the railyards, to the reclaimed landfill, to the ancient routes of Via Stockalper and Via del Mercato, and finally to the slopes that extend beyond the urban edge. Materiality becomes a narrative of approach. The Promenade begins in concrete, a contemporary echo of the valley’s stone, grounding the urban segments and the base of The Promenade Beacon, whose corten crown lightens toward the sky. As the path travels outward, the palette thins—steel giving way to trees, and trees to open ground—until the river’s horizon appears and the mountains rise behind it. In this project, walking is both method and meaning. The Promenade turns movement into understanding, crossing into encounter, and territory into experience. By following a single path through time and terrain, Domodossola discovers itself again—continuous, legible, and connected from valley floor to alpine ridge.

Abstract
By following a single path through time and terrain, Domodossola discovers itself again—continuous, legible, and connected from valley floor to alpine ridge.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
