Due to the advancements of quantum computing, cryptographic community’s attention has shifted to Post-Quantum Cryptography, a relatively new branch of the discipline that studies quantum-resistant algorithms. This work focuses on one of the current candidates in the most recent NIST call for quantum-resistant algorithms, CROSS, specifically on the implementation designed for embedded devices. Such devices are the primary targets of side-channel attacks, a category of attacks targeting cryptosystems and digital signature schemes. They might be cheap to conduct even though they might achieve significant results, such as a complete key recovery. This work achieves two main results. The first is the analysis and identification of vulnerabilities in the ARM Cortex-M4 implementation of CROSS regarding active side-channel attacks. The second is the development of a new version of the signature primitive that incorporates a countermeasure based on Keccak, capable of mitigating the most severe attacks identified during the analysis.

Abstract
The second is the development of a new version of the signature primitive that incorporates a countermeasure based on Keccak, capable of mitigating the most severe attacks identified during the analysis.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
