Cenere madre : posthuman heritage in unstable landscapes

This thesis explores the landscape of Mount Vesuvius as a living archive, rethinking memory through a posthuman lens. The project combines theoretical research, qualitative investigations, and sensory experiments with volcanic materials to explore new ways of relating between humans and territory. The work is structured around questions on how memory can become a ritual gesture and activate sympoietic coexistence. The goal is to imagine practices of care and regeneration beyond preservation, where matter becomes a narrative and affective agent.

Questa tesi esplora il paesaggio del Vesuvio come un archivio vivente, ripensando la memoria attraverso una lente postumana. Il progetto combina ricerca teorica, indagini qualitative ed esperimenti sensoriali con materiali vulcanici, per esplorare nuove modalità di relazione tra esseri umani e territorio. Il lavoro si struttura attorno a domande su come la memoria possa diventare un gesto rituale e attivare forme di coesistenza simpoietica. L’obiettivo è immaginare pratiche di cura e rigenerazione oltre la conservazione, in cui la materia diventa agente narrativo e affettivo.
