This thesis investigates Marcatré, a magazine founded in Genoa in 1963 by Eugenio Battisti, situating it within the Italian Neo-Avant-Garde and the international countercultural milieu of the 1960s. The study approaches the magazine not simply as a publication, but as a laboratory of experimentation and an editorial infrastructure capable of mediating between disciplines and structuring intellectual networks. Through archival research, systematic cataloguing, quantitative analysis, and interviews, the thesis reconstructs Marcatré’s editorial phases, its organization, thematic sections, cultural network, and visual identity. Special attention is given to the “Architecture” section, which exemplifies the magazine’s role as an open platform for interdisciplinary dialogue and critical experimentation. The research highlights how Marcatré evolved from a local, experimental project into a transnational platform, connecting Italian and international contributors, fostering debate, and shaping practices across literature, architecture, and the visual arts. The magazine is shown to embody the principles of the Neo-Avant-Garde, transforming editorial work into an active device for cultural mediation, and anticipating models of interdisciplinary interaction, collaboration, and critical reflection that profoundly influenced the Italian and European intellectual landscape of the 1960s.
