This thesis presents a neutronic study supporting the development and characterization of the GENeuSIS (General Experimental Neutron System Irradiation Station) test facility, designed to reproduce ITER-relevant radiation environments for diagnostics and electronic component testing. The system is optimized to emulate the neutron energy spectrum of the ITER Equatorial Port Cell using a 14 MeV D–T neutron source at the Frascati Neutron Generator (FNG). Monte Carlo simulations performed with MCNP were used to characterize neutron and photon fields inside the irradiation cavity, assessing, where present, their irregularities and anisotropies. Particular attention was devoted to spatial and angular distributions, as well as spectral variations within the cavity. The results demonstrate that GENeuSIS-II successfully reproduces the target ITER spectrum with good spectral agreement and flux intensity, although knowledge of the flux distribution within the cavity will be required to optimize the experiments.
