Podcasting, a relatively young medium that gained widespread relevance over the past decade, is currently undergoing a phase of transformation driven by the diffusion of new technologies and the integration of Artificial Intelligence into digital audio systems. Traditionally conceived as a linear, one-to-many format, it now shows signs of evolving toward forms of interactivity and audience engagement that redefine both the listening experience and the relationship between author and audience. This research originates from the following question: how does the introduction of interactive practices and AI-based solutions reshape the podcast experience, and what implications does this entail for User Experience and language? Through a qualitative and interdisciplinary approach, the study examines theoretical contributions on digital media, audio storytelling, and UX, analyzes nine significant case studies, and includes two interviews with industry professionals. The findings suggest that interactivity should not be understood merely as a technological innovation, but rather as a design dimension capable of strengthening trust, participation, and relational continuity. With the emergence of Artificial Intelligence, new possibilities for personalization and accessibility arise which, according to the case studies, appear particularly relevant in the context of news and informational content. However, two factors limit a true paradigm shift: the typically multitasking mode of podcast consumption and the constraints imposed by mainstream platforms, which reduce the scope for advanced experimentation. Despite these limitations, the analysis highlights an ongoing evolutionary process that is progressively redefining the listener’s role and the logic of audio design. To demonstrate this shift, the thesis concludes by proposing an integrated framework that connects theory and design practice, identifying both opportunities and limitations of audio interactivity and outlining possible future directions for podcasting in relation to emerging technologies and changing cultural consumption practices.

Abstract
To demonstrate this shift, the thesis concludes by proposing an integrated framework that connects theory and design practice, identifying both opportunities and limitations of audio interactivity and outlining possible future directions for podcasting in relation to emerging technologies and changing cultural consumption practices.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
