This thesis trajectory represents a cohesive design evolution that spans from rigorous analysis and research to specific landscape interventions in both Italy and China, united by a focus on integrating ecological and cultural preservation. The investigation began as a collaborative study with “Fondazione Darefrutto” at Tenuta San Marzano, aiming to valorize the Lomellina region through the development of the “Agro-Park” concept. By analyzing the region’s characteristics, this phase moved beyond case study exploration to propose a territorial strategy that balances human activity with environmental stewardship. Building upon this macro-strategy, the individual focus of the research translated these principles into the “Lomellina Eco Tour.” This design proposal activates the Agro-Park concept through a sustainable itinerary connecting the region’s unique heronries, wetlands, and rice paddies. Designed as both a physical network of cyclable paths and a seasonal event, the tour integrates custom activities to raise awareness of local biodiversity and sustainable tourism, fostering a direct, immersive relationship between the landscape and its visitors. The research culminated during a Double Degree program at the Tsinghua University in Beijing, where the methodology developed in Italy was adapted to a complex urban context. Titled “From Eastern Ecological Aesthetics to Contemporary Sustainable Strategies,” this phase focuses on the Beijing Olympic Forest Park (BOFP). By harmonizing traditional Chinese philosophies such as tian ren he yi (the unity of man and nature) with modern technology, the project proposes site-specific interventions that range from upgraded waterfront trails to AI-assisted biodiversity tools. This international progression demonstrates how ecological wisdom and contemporary design strategies can be synthesized to create resilient, culturally significant, and multifunctional public landscapes in both rural and urban contexts.
Il percorso di questa tesi delinea un'evoluzione progettuale coerente che, partendo da una rigorosa fase di analisi e ricerca, giunge a definire specifici interventi paesaggistici sia in Italia che in Cina, uniti dal comune obiettivo di integrare la conservazione ecologica e culturale. L'indagine prende le mosse da uno studio collaborativo con la "Fondazione Darefrutto" presso la Tenuta San Marzano, volto a valorizzare il territorio della Lomellina attraverso lo sviluppo del concetto di "Agro-Parco". Analizzando le caratteristiche della regione, questa fase si spinge oltre la semplice esplorazione di casi studio per proporre una strategia territoriale capace di bilanciare le attività umane con la tutela dell'ambiente. Da questa macro-strategia, lo sviluppo individuale della ricerca ha tradotto i suoi principi nel progetto "Lomellina Eco Tour". Questa proposta dà vita all'idea di Agro-Parco attraverso un itinerario sostenibile che mette in rete le garzaie e le caratteristiche risaie della regione. Pensato sia come una rete fissa di percorsi ciclabili sia come un evento stagionale, il tour integra attività su misura per sensibilizzare il pubblico sulla biodiversità locale e sul turismo sostenibile, favorendo un legame diretto e immersivo tra il paesaggio e i suoi visitatori. La ricerca trova il suo culmine a Pechino, durante il programma di Doppia Laurea presso la Tsinghua University, dove la metodologia sviluppata in Italia viene adattata a un complesso contesto urbano. In questa fase, l'attenzione si concentra sul Beijing Olympic Forest Park di Pechino (BOFP). Armonizzando le filosofie tradizionali cinesi, come il tian ren he yi (l'unità tra uomo e natura), con le tecnologie moderne, il progetto propone interventi mirati che spaziano dalla riqualificazione dei percorsi lungo i corsi d'acqua fino a strumenti per la valorizzazione della biodiversità assistiti dall'Intelligenza Artificiale. Questa progressione internazionale dimostra come la consapevolezza ecologica e le strategie di design contemporaneo possano fondersi per creare paesaggi pubblici resilienti, culturalmente significativi e multifunzionali, in grado di adattarsi a contesti rurali quanto grandi metropoli.
