Abandoned buildings and spaces present significant challenges to urban ecosystems, contributing to urban decay, social isolation, and environmental degradation. These neglected areas often become hotspots for crime and vandalism, detracting from the overall quality of life in their surroundings. The presence of such derelict structures can lead to a decline in property values, deter investment, and create a sense of hopelessness among local residents. However, by utilizing tactical urbanism principles, communities can revitalize these underused spaces into vibrant environments that meet the spatial requirements of local residents. Tactical urbanism emphasizes small-scale, temporary interventions that engage community members in the transformation process, allowing for innovative solutions to emerge organically (Urban Design Lab, 2024). Through tactical urbanism, abandoned spaces can be reimagined as hubs for social interaction, cultural expression, and economic activity, addressing both immediate neglect and fostering a sense of community ownership (Whyte, 1980). This approach mitigates the negative impacts of abandonment by revitalizing spaces into vibrant environments. This transformation can involve creating pop-up parks, community gardens, or art installations that draw people back into these spaces, encouraging them to participate in their revitalization. By engaging stakeholders, the approach transforms abandoned spaces into essential components of urban life, contributing to healthier ecosystems and livable cities (Tomorrow City, 2023). The integration of tactical urbanism into the revitalization of abandoned places serves as a powerful tool for urban transformation. By prioritizing community engagement and adaptive reuse of existing structures, tactical urbanism creates opportunities for local residents to shape their environments actively. This participatory approach not only enhances the aesthetic quality of urban spaces but also promotes social cohesion and inclusivity. As communities reclaim these neglected areas, they foster resilience against future challenges while creating dynamic environments that reflect their unique identities (Sigma Earth, 2023). In doing so, tactical urbanism not only breathes new life into forgotten spaces but also strengthens the social fabric of neighborhoods by encouraging collaboration and shared responsibility among residents.

Abstract
In doing so, tactical urbanism not only breathes new life into forgotten spaces but also strengthens the social fabric of neighborhoods by encouraging collaboration and shared responsibility among residents.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
