This thesis proposes the transformation of the gravimetric Laveria n° 2 of Gorno, a former mining structure, into a civil infrastructure capable of promoting the regeneration of the Val del Riso, the hinge territory between the Val Seriana and the Val Brembana. The design hypothesis stems from an analysis of the Central Transept of the Orobie Alps, aimed at understanding the historical evolution of human footprints and the relationships of interdependence between inhabited centres, the primary cause of the territory's current vulnerabilities. The research focuses on the main changes that have occurred in the extractive industry and its associated infrastructure, reconstructing the production chain's structure to better understand its functioning. Within the mining district, Laveria n° 2 was one of the key points, as it fulfilled the task of separating the mineral from the sterile, exploiting, according to a descending procedural logic, the force of gravity. L2 Anàbasi is configured as the antithesis of the original production process, based on a logic of catàbasi, reversing this paradigm through a symbolic ascent that transforms a place linked to pollution production into a space dedicated to land care. This inversion manifests itself conceptually through the reconversion of the lower floors, once intended for the most invasive processes, into civic uses, and through the crystallisation of the upper levels, dedicated to the memory and contemplation of the landscape. From an architectural point of view, however, the new grafts take up the volumetric articulation of pre-existence, contrasting with it on a formal level. The transformation of the industrial wreck into a civic centre, housing spaces for civil, labour, and community protection, occurs by catalysing historical memory as the foundation for rebirth and reconnecting it to the current needs of the area. The project continues the building's original systemic vocation, transferring it from the production cycle to the civil one for the area, in continuity with existing networks and the interventions outlined in the design strategy.

Abstract
The project continues the building's original systemic vocation, transferring it from the production cycle to the civil one for the area, in continuity with existing networks and the interventions outlined in the design strategy.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
