To address the evolving paradigm of agricultural modernization, this research introduces an innovative "Rice-Saffron" symbiotic crop rotation model, designed to integrate seamlessly with the traditional rice industry in the Lomellina region. Meticulously calibrated to local soil and climatic conditions, the project implements Saffron (known as "Red Gold") as a high-value, resource-efficient "ecological plug-in" during fallow periods, thereby optimizing land utilization and diversifying farmer income streams. By synergizing precision agriculture and vertical soilless cultivation with agro-cultural tourism, this study aims to transform conventional agricultural infrastructure into a "multi-functional socio-ecological hub." Grounded in principles of ethics, sustainability, Design theory,Sociology and anthropology,and community identity, the project provides a strategic framework for upgrading traditional farming into a high-value, resilient, and integrated ecosystem.
Per affrontare l’evoluzione del paradigma della modernizzazione agricola, questa ricerca presenta un innovativo modello di rotazione colturale simbiotica «Riso-Zafferano», concepito per integrarsi perfettamente con la tradizionale industria risicola della regione Lomellina.Meticolosamente calibrato sulle condizioni pedologiche e climatiche locali, il progetto introduce lo zafferano – definito «oro rosso» – come «plugin ecologico» ad alto valore e basso impatto durante i periodi di riposo dei terreni, ottimizzando così l’uso del suolo e diversificando le fonti di reddito degli agricoltori.Combinando l’agricoltura di precisione e la coltivazione verticale senza suolo con il turismo agro-culturale, questo studio mira a trasformare l’infrastruttura agricola convenzionale in un «hub socio-ecologico multifunzionale».Basato su principi di etica, sostenibilità, teoria del design, sociologia, antropologia e identità comunitaria, il progetto fornisce un quadro strategico per elevare l’agricoltura tradizionale a un ecosistema integrato, resiliente e ad alto valore aggiunto.
