This thesis presents a collection of proposals aimed at the reactivation of abandoned masserie within the Apulian context, with particular attention to the rural architecture of the Tavoliere delle Puglie. In this territory, historically defined as the “Granary of Italy”, the relationship between masserie and cereal production is still strongly recognizable; therefore, it represents a particularly significant field of intervention. The aim of the research is to rediscover the potential of these buildings by envisioning a new role for them, distinct from the processes of touristification and museification that often prevail in restoration projects. The thesis therefore develops a critical evaluation of the possibility of restoring an active function to masserie within the territory, capable of re-establishing their productive and cultural value. From this perspective, masserie are interpreted as devices capable of connecting community needs with emerging territorial demands. Based on these premises, a replicable and adaptable reactivation model is developed for application in similar contexts, conceived as an operational manual. This tool defines guidelines for the re-functionalization of masserie, with the aim of ensuring a balance between conservation and innovation. A central role is assigned to the enhancement of wheat as a local resource and straw as an agricultural by-product, considered respectively as a productive resource and a building material. These elements contribute both to the reintegration of masserie into contemporary productive cycles and the reconstruction of the buildings themselves. Finally, the model is tested through its application to a specific case study, Masseria Ponte Albanito (FG), which serves as a concrete field of experimentation for evaluating the proposed strategies and demonstrating their feasibility.

Abstract
Finally, the model is tested through its application to a specific case study, Masseria Ponte Albanito (FG), which serves as a concrete field of experimentation for evaluating the proposed strategies and demonstrating their feasibility.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
