Piezoelectric resonators based on microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) have been a cutting-edge discovery since their first implementation.

Abstract
Piezoelectric resonators based on microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) have been a cutting-edge discovery since their first implementation. These devices, developed for various purposes, are made with wafer structure in which a layer of piezoelectric material, capable of converting mechanical energy into electrical energy, is deposited on a silicon substrate. This thesis aims to investigate various piezoelectric transducers, which differ in architecture, introducing as a novel aspect the use of aluminum nitride (AlN) in single-crystal form, a lead-free piezoelectric material that has the advantage of being non-toxic, unlike other materials containing lead. In line with laboratory tests conducted on piezoelectric MEMS resonators by the POLIFAB laboratory, the Politecnico di Milano's micro- and nanofabrication facility, numerical analyses were performed using the finite element software COMSOL Multiphysics to deduce their characteristic electromechanical parameters.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
