The requirements are translated into model-based information conditions and tested through a BIM–IFC–IDS workflow. A Revit case-study model is enriched with elements, classifications and custom parameters, exported in IFC4x3 Add2 format, inspected in usBIM.browser and validated in usBIM.IDS. The resulting IDS library includes specifications at different information levels: spaces, building-level properties, technical systems, envelope components and slab elements with concrete layers. Validation shows that IDS can detect compliant values, intentionally non-compliant declarations and missing information in the IFC model. The research confirms the potential of IDS to support transparency, repeatability and traceability in managing CAM-related information. The study also highlights key limitations. IDS can verify the presence, structure and declared value of information, but cannot replace specialist assessments, calculations, simulations, product certifications or technical documentation. It should therefore be understood as an information-checking tool within a broader compliance verification process. Abstract

The construction sector is increasingly required to address sustainability through structured, measurable and verifiable information. In this context, Building Information Modelling (BIM) and openBIM standards can improve the management of environmental requirements, although compliance verification often still relies on fragmented documentation and manual checks. This thesis investigates the use of Information Delivery Specification (IDS) to structure and verify sustainability-related information requirements derived from the Minimum Environmental Criteria for buildings, with reference to CAM 2025. The research adopts a qualitative, application-oriented approach. After defining the theoretical and regulatory framework, selected CAM criteria are analysed according to their informational nature, relationship with BIM and IFC entities, and suitability for IDS-based verification. Future developments may extend the approach to further CAM criteria, external documentation systems, digital product data and sustainability assessment frameworks such as Protocollo ITACA.
