Progetto di terme urbane per la nuova darsena di Porta Genova a Milano

The closure of the railway station of Porta Genova in Milan is an opportunity to redefine the role of the canal system, a crucial component for the history of this part of the city and challenged by modern processes of urban transformation. The partial reopening of the inner circle of canals that has been covered since the thirties and also of the Martesana canal is a possible reality in the near future. The direct use of water as a resource, however, is not the direction that should be taken, as the purpose for which the canals were built and developed throughout history has already been completed. Our task today is to see the canal system as a means and not an end in itself , that is, a resource that can offer quality and character to a project of architectural and urban redevelopment.

L'uso diretto della risorsa d'acqua non è la strada che si può intraprendere, benché il fine per il quale i Navigli sono stati costruiti abbia avuto uno sviluppo e un compimento nella storia cittadina, il nostro compito oggi è quello di vedere il sistema delle acque non come un mezzo fine a sé stesso bensì come una risorsa che può dare qualità e carattere ad un intervento di risanamento architettonico e urbano.
