This work deals with the reconstruction of implicit surfaces from 3D scattered data. Our method is based on the radial basis funcion approach for the multivariate interpolation. Starting from an existing algorithm that establishes a multi-level reconstruction using compactly supported radial basis functions, we develop a new adaptative procedure for building the reconstruction at each scale. The tests we performed have shown that the new procedure appears to be attractive for its ability of computing more accurate reconstructions with less degrees of freedom than the original algorithm, while the computational time is almost the same. Some limitations due to the RBF interpolation method still remain, in particular in the reconstruction of noisy clouds of points of sharp featured clouds. Enhancing fermormances in such cases will be the object of the future research.

Abstract
Enhancing fermormances in such cases will be the object of the future research.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
