In this thesis is presented the fatigue corrosion of two middle steel, A1N and A4T, used for production of railway axle in Europe. Many specimens were tested for each material, in condition of rotating bending fatigue in corrosive environment, for establish that even the presence of a mild corrosive environment eliminates the fatigue limit, thus causing failures in the high-cycle fatigue regime (>10^7 cycles) and causing damage to the surface. The latter consist in the initial formation of corrosion pits and subsequently crack growth that lead to rupture component. The work consists mainly of a statistical study so the results are valid only for the materials treated.

Abstract
In this thesis is presented the fatigue corrosion of two middle steel, A1N and A4T, used for production of railway axle in Europe. Many specimens were tested for each material, in condition of rotating bending fatigue in corrosive environment, for establish that even the presence of a mild corrosive environment eliminates the fatigue limit, thus causing failures in the high-cycle fatigue regime (>10^7 cycles) and causing damage to the surface. The latter consist in the initial formation of corrosion pits and subsequently crack growth that lead to rupture component.
