This thesis focuses on fatigue analysis and crack propagation of a structural component that presents stress concentration areas characterized by high deformation: because of this, the fatigue analysis is performed according to the strain-life approach and crack propagation analysis is carried out under elastoplastic fracture mechanics conditions. The initial phase of the work concerns the finite-element modeling of the component, followed by the application of appropriate boundary conditions. The finite element analysis allows to pass from the load spectrum applied to the overall structure, and related to 200 flight hours, to the corresponding stress-strain history of the critical areas of the component. From the stress-strain histories, using the counting methods, hysteresis cycles are extracted, and their contribution to damage and crack propagation is calculated. At the end, a possible redesign of the part is presented, which allows an improvement of fatigue characteristics.

Abstract
At the end, a possible redesign of the part is presented, which allows an improvement of fatigue characteristics.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
