In the present work the aim was to study one of the critical steps for the successful Six Sigma implementation: “The Project Selection and Prioritization procedure”. The lack of a formal methodology or procedure of it, is conducting to many companies to failure their Six Sigma deployment and consequently not achieving the expected results. After studied the concerned literature about the Six Sigma program and the Project Selection process it was obtained some critical success factors as well important parameters that need to be applied in order to achieve to an adequate procedure. For the practical application, there were analyze qualitatively three companies (Xerox, Rio Tinto Alcan and Dell) obtaining algorithms coming from their project selection procedures. The companies were analyzed also in their financial reports in order to find the continuous performance over the years. The results obtained after the comparison of the three companies were analyzed using key performance indicators (financial and non financial) based on the balance scorecard parameters, arriving to the creation of an improved algorithm, mixture of the most valuable steps from three methodologies.
