In this thesis the influence of two dimensionless geometric parameters on flow field in a shallow reservoir was investigated. It is essential to understand what kind of flow field and what kind of turbulent structures can develop for different geometric configurations because these determine the sediment transport and define the areas of the basin where erosion or deposit can occur. Thirty configurations characterized by different lengths and widths were analyzed with LSPIV technique. This allows measurement of the surface velocities. Configurations were tested with clean water and with suspended sediments. Based on the values of parameters, the flow field can be symmetrical, asymmetrical or channel-like flow. Moreover, the deposits influence the type of flow field in the basin. After investigation of the flow fields for different geometrical configurations, were studied some features of turbulence by analyzing the velocity values obtained by UVP measurements. Maps of the average kinetic energy and maps of the energy associated with the fluctuating velocity components were obtained. The maps developed are presented in the appendix.

Abstract
The maps developed are presented in the appendix.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
