The aim of this thesis work was to examine the applicability of a Reverse Engineering technique to a large-sized yacht's hull, in order to improve product quality and shorten the processing cycle at the same time. In particular, the problem has been tackled by three main points of view: technical, choosing an appropriate scanning system capable of respecting the project's bonds in terms of time and accuracy, logistic, considering what is the best solution for the automated handling system in order to obtain the minimum impact on other activities, and finally economic, checking whether the company has effective convenience implementing a surface scanning cell.
