The purpose of this thesis is to study, design and characterize a delay receiver for DPSK optical transmission system. The demodulator can be configured in a continuous bit-rate range that makes it suitable to different network sources, but also to compensate the impairements introduced in the transmission (caused by narrow filtering or chromatic dispersion in optical fiber). The receiver proposed is the first of its kind, it is realized in silicon-on-insulator (SOI) technology, in order to ensure compact size, low production costs and the on-chip integration within optoelectronics systems. In comparison to other devices already studied, the device offers excellent performance, robustness to impairements using simple technological achievement. The results are obtained by measurements in the spectral domain and in the time domain and they are shown below and demonstrated by the comparison obtained in the design stage and simulation.

Abstract
The results are obtained by measurements in the spectral domain and in the time domain and they are shown below and demonstrated by the comparison obtained in the design stage and simulation.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
