Tu 6 cento. Mostra ad alta velocità

“Tu 6 cento” is an exhibition dedicated to Fiat 600, the car that motorized Italians during the economic boom and which not only represented a simple means of transport, but also the social change of the 60’s, symbol of freedom, independence, wellness and progress. The setting of the project is the Autodromo of Monza, a race track located in Monza, north of Milan; in particular, the exhibition extends along the area below the Curva Sopraelevata Nord, that is the high speed curve. Five different thematic areas, developed in 200 square meters, tell about how Fiat 600 was born, how it developed and expanded, going hand in hand with the progress of the economic boom. The exhibition is linear and leads the visitor from the origins of the car available to everyone – focusing on the seriality of the utility car through the production line, and exalting advertising, an accessory to the growth of demand – till the comparison between 600 and 600D model, in which it is possible to see the comparison between the old and the new, together with the changes under which this car has been submitted in order to improve. In the middle, other three rooms are dedicated to the models that derived from this car, starting from the most particular ones elaborated by coach-builders who found, in the Turin utility car, a great opportunity to give vent to their creativity, till the presentation of the first volume car, Multipla, and the area dedicated to race cars: Abarth. The project doesn’t want to directly intervene on the structure of Curva Nord, which is left with its cement structure dominated by pillars and joists, but it proposes to insert in this structure, to which another one is approached, simple and natural, in relation with the Park of Monza, set around. “Tu 6 cento” wants to merge with an already existing and well exploitable reality, helping the revaluation of an area of the Autodromo of Monza which is in part forgotten and abandoned. We are in fact in front of the most rich Autodromo in Europe as concerning history, below the Curva Nord, where very high speeds have been reached, which surely deserves more visibility and attention.

“Tu 6 Cento” è una mostra dedicata alla Fiat 600, l’automobile che ha motorizzato gli Italiani durante il periodo del boom economico, e che ha rappresentato non solo un semplice mezzo di trasporto, ma anche la trasformazione sociale degli anni sessanta, simbolo di libertà, indipendenza, benessere e progresso. L’ambientazione in cui nasce il progetto è l’Autodromo di Monza; in particolare, la mostra si estende lungo l’area sottostante la Curva Sopraelevata Nord dell’alta velocità. Cinque diverse aree tematiche, estese su circa 200 metri quadri, raccontano di come la Fiat 600 è nata, si è sviluppata e si è diffusa, di pari passo con l’avanzare del benessere economico. Il percorso della mostra è lineare e conduce il visitatore dalle origini dell’automobile per tutti, in cui si mette in mostra la serialità dell’utilitaria attraverso la catena di montaggio e dove si esalta la pubblicità, complice dello sviluppo della domanda, fino al confronto tra 600 e 600 modello D, in cui si assiste al continuo paragone tra vecchio e nuovo modello, con le modifiche a cui quest’auto è stata sottoposta per migliorare sempre di più. In mezzo, altre tre sale sono dedicate ai modelli derivati da questa automobile, passando dalle elaborazioni più particolari dei carrozzieri, che trovarono, nell’utilitaria torinese, una grande occasione per dar sfogo alla loro creatività, fino alla presentazione della prima monovolume, la Multipla, e all’area dedicata alle 600 da corsa: le Abarth. Il progetto non intende intervenire direttamente sulla struttura della Curva Nord, che viene lasciata con la sua struttura in cemento dominata da pilastri e travetti, ma si propone di inserirsi all’interno di questa struttura, a cui ne viene accostata una nuova, semplice e naturale, in relazione con il Parco di Monza, che si trova attorno. “Tu 6 cento” intende amalgamarsi ad una realtà già esistente e ben sfruttabile, aiutando a rivalutare un’area dell’Autodromo di Monza in parte dimenticata ed abbandonata a se stessa. Ci troviamo infatti di fronte all’Autodromo più ricco di storia in Europa, sotto la Curva Nord, dove altissime velocità sono state raggiunte, che sicuramente merita una visibilità ed un’attenzione maggiore.
