The use of biomass as solid fuel has grown in recent, especially in the residential sector. New markets for domestic heating systems are appearing and with them the necessity to have safe and efficient appliances, thus proper simulation models are key in this situation. A complete dynamic model for the simulation of a wood pellet boiler has been developed in Simulink MATLAB using thermodynamic relationships and heat balances. Important parameters for the simulation were identified and experimental data was used to compare and evaluate the model. The results obtained are in accordance with the measured data but still more improvements in the model can be made, particularly in start and stop phases.

Abstract
The use of biomass as solid fuel has grown in recent, especially in the residential sector. New markets for domestic heating systems are appearing and with them the necessity to have safe and efficient appliances, thus proper simulation models are key in this situation. A complete dynamic model for the simulation of a wood pellet boiler has been developed in Simulink MATLAB using thermodynamic relationships and heat balances. Important parameters for the simulation were identified and experimental data was used to compare and evaluate the model. The results obtained are in accordance with the measured data but still more improvements in the model can be made, particularly in start and stop phases.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
