Globalization and integration are the main trends of the world development. In order to become a global player and to get access to the global profit companies start merger & acquisition processes which brings to the creation of the huge holdings with worldwide presence. The main objective is to become a global player by gaining access to the new markets. The complexity of the management of such kind of companies significantly increases, amount of information transactions are also changing and data management becomes critical task. Available information system may not be capable to realise this activity. In order to have efficient data management company has to re-design its information system and to introduce the project of data integration of all companies in the group. Literature analysis of this thesis was done with the purpose to identify state of the art solutions for the data management (including data migration, real-time data processing) and data warehouse design (including new concepts of cloud computing and data warehouse 2.0) as it is a base for the business intelligence techniques which are used for the decision support system. This thesis aims to analyse on a real business case the process of the data migration and creation of the unique Enterprise Performance Management System. Business case is based on the merger & acquisition process between to world leading cable producer Italian company Prysmian and Netherland company Draka. Companies overview, new application design, technical structure, systems in use, description of the data migration process are presented in this thesis which can be considered as a Best Practice. We developed a forecasting model based on linear regression and time series. Forecasting is one of the advanced analytics tools offered by business intelligence techniques. Such forecasting could be useful for the improvement of the decision making process of the company. Analysis was done on the sales and profit variables and some other accounts from the financial statement and balance sheet. Accurate forecasting can improve planning activity of the company and increase the quality of the management decisions.
