Composite materials represent the most used technology for high specific strength and stiffness structural elements. These materials, typically used in aeronautical field, begin for the last few years to find valid applications in motorcycle field, especially in competitive sector. The scope of work consists precisely in the redesign of the aluminum alloy rear fork produced by MV Agusta, and mounted on F4 1000R MY 2010, in composite materials. The research is based on numerical analysis with a finite elements model close to the original shape of the rear fork. With dimensional loads, obtained with a specific dynamic model, it was initially possible to identify any criticality of the metal rear fork. These results are then used for the development of the composite rear fork numerical model. The latter was then used to conduct a study of sensitivity on the stiffness with the characteristics of the laminate. Finally is executed a numerical analysis of structural optimization that can identify the particular sequence of lamination to provide maximum rigidity.

Abstract
Finally is executed a numerical analysis of structural optimization that can identify the particular sequence of lamination to provide maximum rigidity.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
