Green materials in furniture design between China and western countries

Currently,taking care of resource and material recycle is called on all over the world. Designing furniture according to "green working" concept and changing people's idea of aesthetics is popular. "Green ecology" is becoming a new life demand through environmental material and green science technology in this design atmosphere. On the basis of the widespread investigation and the relational reference,I summarized the modern technology and materials, Chinese mortise-tenon connection,and make some comparisons between Chinese and Western classical furniture in terms of modeling structures,decoration crafts,decorations and thinkings of design with materials. The thesis,from the perspective of the impact of furniture material on the environment,brings forward the idea of eco-furniture design.Meanwhile,it defines green materials and studies a new kind of green materials. But,due to the continuous development of modern society as well as economy and technology, the collision of traditional craftsmanship and modern technology, foreign culture and the local, national, and regional culture, the differences among people's values, consumption concept, and esthetic sentiment, have led to more possibilities in design in order to meet different demands to environment by different people. And for different people they have different focus, which leads to a huge change about the applied range and methods of application of materials. But whether in East or West, the goal and direction of furniture design are the same as for the concept of sustainable development in the era of advocating green, environmental protection, health, and energy conservation. Design of future furniture will be more close to people's life in an even better fashion, change the quality of people’s life, and meet different requirements in life. Along with the global popularity of green economy, green furniture will also become the focus and goal of furniture design. So,the thesis points out the future development trend of green furniture will be a globalized and unified.,through comparison and analysis of the status in quo of green furniture in Western and Eastern countries,which is strengthen the green identification and description of modern furniture,selecting green materials,optimizing the process and the structure of green furniture,establishing recycling system,and highlighting personalized design style.
