L'Aquila. Disorientamento, coraggio, incanto

This project aims to give citizens the opportunity to enter L'Aquila, but especially to relive emotions in the center of their city. Currently the center is still largely manned by police, with very few unusable businesses and forcing the citizens to gather outside the city center or in Piazza Duomo, in a silent, empty and dilapidated scenario. Using three key words, it was designed a path throught the most beautiful streets and squares of the city, the ones that were most dear to daily life before the earthquake. The choice of the themes and the development of the path have been created specifically for the city of L'Aquila, thus creating a unique play, strongly tied to the place and the history of this city and to the emotions of its inhabitants. If it is true that a play has its essence in the process of staging, in this case it goes further: in fact it is essential that the role of spectators proceeding on their journey through the city become an active part of the show, owning again roads, reanimating the air with sounds, diversificating and extending their paths among the ciy center. Therefore they wouldn't be just passive observers, but they become actors themselves. Each key words, disorientation, courage and charm, is represented in a different square, in which an ad hoc scenography has been introduced. The scenography does not cover buildings but is rather designed to emphasize their characters, highlighting the essence of the city and helping travelers get in touch and interact with the show. Rapprochement and repossession of the city is what would happen, giving a gradual and natural increase of emotions. At the end of the route the traveler is free to stay as much as he wants, then is brought back to Piazza del Duomo, which is once again not only the geographical city center, but the strongly and healthy beating heart of this city.

Questo progetto si pone come obiettivo quello di ridare ai cittadini aquilani la possibilità di entrare, ma soprattutto di rivivere emozioni, all’interno del centro storico della loro città. Attualmente il centro è ancora in gran parte presidiato dalle forze dell’ordine, inagibile e con pochissime attività commerciali aperte. I cittadini sono pertanto costretti a radunarsi o al di fuori del centro o in piazza Duomo, attornianti però da uno scenario silenzioso,vuoto e fatiscente. Attraverso tre parole chiave è stato disegnato uno spettacolo teatrale che percorresse le vie e le piazze più belle del centro, ovvero le più care alla vita quotidiana prima del sisma. La scelta delle tematiche affrontate e lo sviluppo del percorso sono stati costruiti appositamente per la città de L’Aquila, creando così uno spettacolo unico, fortemente legato al luogo e alla storia di questa città e alle emozioni dei suoi abitanti. Se è vero che una rappresentazione teatrale trova la sua essenza nella messa in scena, in questo caso si va oltre: fondamentale è il ruolo degli spettatori che procedendo nel loro viaggio attraverso la città diventano parte attiva dello spettacolo, riappropriandosi delle strade, rianimandola con suoni e percorsi sempre più estesi e diversificati: da semplici osservatori passivi essi diventano a loro volta attori. Le tre parole chiave, disorientamento, coraggio ed incanto, vengono rappresentate ognugna in una piazza, nella quale è stata introdotta una scenografia ad hoc che non copre gli edifici ma anzi ne sottolinea i caratteri, ne mostra l’essenza ed aiuta i viaggiatori ad entrare in cottatto con la rappresentazione, ad usufruirne. Avviene quindi un riavvicinamento, una ripresa di possesso della città e delle emozioni che questa rasmette in modo graduale e naturale. Alla fine del percorso il viaggiatore si trova libero di sostare quanto vuole, per poi tornare nella piazza del Duomo che una volta ancora non è solo centro geografico, ma anche il cuore che batte in modo sano e forte di questa città.
