In this thesis work a non-modal stability analisys is performed for the steady flow through an axisymmetric stenosis of varying degree. The geometry consists of a long straight tube and a blockage, semicircular in cross-section, serving as a simplified model of an arterial stenosis. The stenosis geometry is characterized by a single parameter, called stenosis degree. Numerically, a finite element code is used to obtain the base flow field and the disturbances field, both assumed axisymmetric. The adjoint operator is then used to obtain the transient growth and the optimal initial condition, directly integrating its equations without performing any eigenvalueeigenvector analisys, as usually done in reference literature. The aim is to create a procedure that does not require the explicit rappresentation of the system’s state matrix and thus suitable to analize realistic geometries.

Abstract
The aim is to create a procedure that does not require the explicit rappresentation of the system’s state matrix and thus suitable to analize realistic geometries.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
